How sword spawns work on the Heights

In classic Sword Fights on the Heights IV, stronger weapons are physical pickups. You walk or jump onto a sword model to claim it. Spawns can be contested, temporarily missing after another player grabs them, or awkward to approach without the Locus portals. This page is the routing guide that pairs with Getting Started and feeds Combat tips.

If you are only collecting four blades for The Hunt: Roblox 20, any qualifying pickups count—see Hunt Roblox 20. For long-term play, learn the named classics below.

The Locus portal network

The Locus (saferoom under the central fire ring) is the fastest travel tool on the map. Enter by dropping into the saferoom access or by activating a Touchstone. Inside you get safety and four colored portals:

Portal colorPrimary destinationWhy you take it
Tan / whiteIllumina approach (conveyors / pillared island)Highest-priority movement sword
BlueBase of the Windforce mountainOften the only clean approach without special gear
RedMedkit stand and Venomshank side / bridge routesSustain + poison blade access
PurpleShield routing / Abyss-side connectionsDefense gear and Hunt secret path access

Memorize colors before you memorize every beam. Portal literacy beats wandering from random spawns.

Linked Sword

  • Where: default spawn loadout.
  • Role: tutorial blade and emergency fallback after death.
  • Notes: Learn slash vs lunge here before you touch specialty swords. Details in Controls.

Illumina

  • Where: floating island surrounded by beige / tan pillars, typically reached via conveyors after the tan/white Locus portal.
  • Role: top-tier damage and the movement meta (aerial lunges, double-Illumina flight).
  • Tips: Contested constantly. Grab it, leave immediately, and consider waiting nearby for a second Illumina if you plan to fly. Sparkles also help reveal nearby invisible Ghostwalker users.

Darkheart

  • Where: classic Darkheart spire / dark platform landmark (high blackish structure players associate with the life-steal blade).
  • Role: heavy hitting with ~40% life steal; can heal by swinging into forcefields.
  • Tips: Excellent sustain sword. Pair with Touchstone so you can brawl, then escape. See FF heal notes in Combat tips.

Ghostwalker

  • Where: lower / offset area often approached via tricky paths (invisible bridge style approaches appear in classic layouts); some players route via purple-side map knowledge after Locus travel.
  • Role: transparency, floaty gravity, damage that scales with KOs on that blade.
  • Tips: Strong for streaks and weird angles. Illumina counters invisibility sparkles—do not assume you are truly hidden against competent Illumina users.

Windforce

  • Where: summit of the mountain accessed primarily through the blue Locus portal.
  • Role: long blue knockback sword; great disruption, easy self-KO if you slap people near edges carelessly.
  • Tips: Blue portal is often quieter than Illumina traffic. Respect the Windforce KO caveat—knockback that sends someone off also teaches opponents how to send you off. Full warning in Combat tips.

Firebrand

  • Where: platforms reached with wooden plank / jump-pad style routes on the fire side of the map; commonly grabbed after red-side or mid-map routing once you leave the Locus.
  • Role: large dark-red fire sword; essential as a counter identity versus freeze play.
  • Tips: Keep Firebrand when Ice Dagger users are active. Matchup notes belong in combat practice more than in spawn camping.

Venomshank

  • Where: red-portal side of the map near Medkit / bridge approaches.
  • Role: poison-on-hit pressure; forces enemies to respect chip damage after trades.
  • Tips: Good for players who land hits but lose extended equal trades. Grab Medkit while you are already on the red route.

Ice Dagger

  • Where: specialty spawn on colder / offset pads depending on server layout; less “main highway”than Illumina or Windforce.
  • Role: freeze / near-instant threat with equip delay constraints.
  • Tips: Powerful but awkward. Firebrand users specifically exist to punish overreliance on ice. Do not treat it as a beginner first pickup.

Touchstone (utility, not a sword)

  • Where: map utility spawn players grab while rotating between sword routes.
  • Role: teleport to the Locus saferoom on activation.
  • Tips: Hotbar it next to your movement sword. Failed Illumina flights and losing trades become recoverable instead of streak-ending. Controls pairing: Controls.

Medkit, Shield, and other support gear

  • Medkit: red-portal neighborhood; heal before re-entering contested pads.
  • Shield routes: purple-portal side; useful when you want a defensive buffer before taking Illumina fights.
  • Shadow Sphere / invis tools: historically near dark spires; strong for repositioning but you typically cannot sword-swing while fully using invis states the same way.

Support gear does not replace a plan. Pick one sustain item, one movement sword, one damage sword, then stop hoarding.

Suggested first collection route (PvP practice)

  1. Enter Locus (drop in or Touchstone).
  2. Tan/white portal —claim Illumina.
  3. Return via Touchstone if pressured.
  4. Grab Touchstone if you do not have it yet.
  5. Blue portalWindforce if you want knockback tools.
  6. Red portal —Medkit + Venomshank.
  7. Rotate toward Darkheart spire when the path is clear.
  8. Add Ghostwalker / Firebrand / Ice Dagger only after the core kit feels stable.

For Hunt’s four-sword badge, skip perfection—touch whatever four spawns are free and trust the death-safe counter.

Event note: dropped swords still count

During Hunt collecting, swords dropped by defeated players can also credit progress. That does not mean you should force fights; it is only a shortcut when a contested pedestal is empty. Full event flow: Hunt Roblox 20. Abyss purple usage for the hidden badge: Secret Quest.

Bottom line

Learn the Locus colors first—tan/white Illumina*, blue Windforce, red Medkit/Venom, purple Shield/Abyss—then layer individual pedestal knowledge. Sword locations are a routing skill; once the map is readable, combat guides and the tier list start to matter.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What is the fastest way to reach Illumina?

Enter the Locus saferoom and take the tan/white portal toward the conveyor and pillared island spawn.

How do I get Windforce?

Take the blue Locus portal to the mountain base and climb to the Windforce spawn. Alternate approaches are slower without special gear.

Which portal leads to Medkit and Venomshank?

The red Locus portal drops you toward the Medkit stand and Venomshank side of the map.

Is Touchstone required?

Not required, but strongly recommended. It teleports you back to the Locus for escapes and faster reroutes.

Do sword locations change for The Hunt?

Core classic spawns remain map pickups. Hunt only adds an objective counter—any four credited swords can finish the collector badge.

Where should I go after learning locations?

Open Combat Tips to turn routes into winning habits, and check the Tier list for matchup priority.
